  2. Start Up Grand Forks, a new pilot program to provide seed funding to new entrepreneurial endeavors in the city, received the green light from the Growth Fund. The Jobs Development Authority gave final approval for the program May 1. More …

  5. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp introduced EDC and city leaders to senior executives with General Electric, who were in Grand Forks as part of GE’s acquisition of LM Wind Power.
  6. Terry Sando, UAS Sector Senior Developer, led a table top planning session with Xcel Energy, UND, Elbit Systems and the ND Department of Emergency Management, mapping out a storm scenario in preparation for UAS flight testing being planned for late May.
  7. The EDC board of directors recommended the Growth Fund approve a funding request for Half Brothers Brewing, which plans to market craft brew throughout the region.

  9. Klaus Thiessen, along with Grant McGimpsey and Mike Moore with UND’s division of research and economic development, met with University of Manitoba counterparts to explore opportunities for collaboration.
